In March 2017 Islandbridge CIO, Joseph McCarthy, was invited to speak at two major events in the UK family office calendar. At the first, the Citywire Private Office Forum, Joseph was asked to join a panel discussing “Investing in Energy” alongside speaker Richard Hulf, Portfolio Manager of the Artemis Global Energy Fund and co-panelist Gaurav Singh, Founder & Director of Yati Capital. The panel proved to be a thematic discussion around different approaches to energy exposure and covered renewables and alternative ways to express a view on oil prices, amongst other topics.
The second event was the Markets Group Family Office Investment Summit, where Joseph had been invited to speak on “Asset Allocation: Family Office Views”. Joseph spoke alongside Nainish Bapna, Investment & Portfolio Management at Veddis and Daniel Murray, Chief Economist at EFG. The discussion touched on the effects of political change and technological evolution on allocations, along with the role of the hedge fund in today’s world and client risk appetites.
Both events were hugely informative and each panel saw a lively and engaging discussion of several key themes in the investment management world
