The Islandbridge Opportunities Fund won the Best New Hedge Fund award at the Hedge Funds Review European Performance Awards 2017. The event was held on Thursday 23rd November at the Marriott Regents Park and Portfolio Manager, Joseph McCarthy, was on hand to collect the award.
Awards Editor, Margie Lindsay, commented;
“One sign of the resurgence of Europe’s hedge fund industry has been the launch of new funds over 2016-17. The Islandbridge Opportunities Fund caught the eye of the judging panel due to several factors. While pursuing one of the more common strategies – long/short equity – this fund combines fundamental value and event driven to good effect with concentrated positions and an experienced portfolio manager with a solid team behind him. In a world where valuations are not always what they seem, having an expert eye for mispricing opportunities on the short side as well as corporate events such as merges and acquisitions that impact value. Investors want to see a consistent investment process that gives returns. This fund has such a process that brings together several valuation indicators as well as the experience of the team to find the best stocks to hold in the long and short term. Islandbridge Capital is certainly a management company to watch as it expands its range of services and leverages the skill and expertise of its team.”
During the period from July last year, the Fund has returned net +34.4% with a Sharpe ratio of 3.9
Many congratulations to all of the winners on the evening and a huge thank you to the Hedge Funds Review panel for our award.
