Joseph McCarthy – Founder & Chief Investment Officer
Joseph is a Director of the Islandbridge Opportunities Fund and the Portfolio Manager, as well as Founder and Chief Investment Officer for Islandbridge Capital Limited. Joseph also chairs the Client Portfolios Investment Committee. Joseph founded Islandbridge Capital Limited in 2008 and has over 16 years’ experience in investing globally across a range of asset classes and strategies. Joseph is responsible for investment selection and research at Islandbridge Capital Limited.
Prior to founding the firm, he was an Investment Manager at Arlington Group Asset Management where he initially focused on Special Situations investing. In 2004 he began managing the firm’s hedge fund investments and additionally worked in Asia and New York on hedge fund seeding and M&A. Before Arlington, Joseph previously held positions as a UK small & mid cap Equities Analyst at Evolution Beeson Gregory (now Evolution Group Plc) and as an Associate Director of Research at Robert W Baird in London.
Joseph read Business, Economics and Social Science at Trinity College Dublin and is an associate member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. He also holds an MBA (with distinction) from the University of Oxford.
Russell Elam – Chief Operating Officer
Russell is the Chief Operating Officer at Islandbridge and also serves as a member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Risk Committee. Russell is primarily responsible for the operational, finance and risk management functions at Islandbridge, in addition to governing the operational trading process for the Islandbridge funds and client managed accounts. Russell also acts as the Compliance Officer for the Firm and holds the CF10, CF11 and CF1 control functions.
Previous to joining Islandbridge, Russell worked for Nomura International Plc as a Financial Controller. At Nomura, he was responsible for the reporting of trading profits and losses derived from the Fixed Income desk. Prior to that, Russell worked for Insight Investment (BNY Mellon Group) and held a number of roles during his time there, including Senior Financial Analyst.
Russell is a Qualified Accountant and was admitted as a member of CIMA/CGMA in 2008.
Andrew Harrison – Non-Executive Director
Andrew is a Non-Executive Director of Islandbridge. He is an English Solicitor and has worked at a number of large law firms, before founding his own in 2010. Andrew is a corporate lawyer with considerable experience and advises on a wide range of transactions. He was an equity partner at Irwin Mitchell and Wragge & Co. and headed corporate teams in those organizations. He also sits in a non-executive capacity on the boards of public and private companies.
Andrew graduated from Christ Church, University of Oxford with an M.A. in Jurisprudence and a B.C.L.
Patrick is a Director of Islandbridge Capital Cayman and the Islandbridge Opportunities Fund. In January 2007, Patrick co-founded HF Fund Services Ltd. (“HF”), a Cayman Islands-based company licensed in the Cayman Islands to provide independent directors to alternative investment funds and investment management companies. He currently serves as an independent director on several Cayman Islands-based alternative investment funds and investment management companies.
In April 2007, he co-founded a representative office based in Singapore, HF Fund Services Singapore Private Limited, to serve HF’s Asian clients. In 1996, Patrick founded Oxford Advisors Ltd, a Cayman Islands-based mutual fund management company.
From 1996 to 2006, he was responsible for the creation of a family of 11 funds, including a multi-manager fixed income fund, a market neutral fund of funds, and several alternative fund of funds. He served on the board of directors of each of these companies. He increased Oxford’s assets under management from US$ 25 million in 1996 to US$ 4.5 billion in 2006. In November 2006, he sold the funds’ management shares to a large financial institution.
Sean is a Director of the Islandbridge Opportunities Fund. In January 2007, Sean co-founded HF Fund Services Ltd. (“HF”), a Cayman Islands-based company licensed in the Cayman Islands to provide independent directors to alternative investment funds and investment management companies. He currently serves as an independent director on several Cayman Islands-based alternative investment funds and investment management companies.
In April 2007, he co-founded a representative office based in Singapore, HF Fund Services Singapore Private Limited, to serve HF’s Asian clients. Previously, Sean was a Managing Director at UBS with global responsibility for all of its hedge fund administration business. He started the hedge fund administration business for UBS in the Cayman Islands in 1992 and built it to over US$ 130 billion in assets under administration, establishing offices in Dublin, Toronto, New York and London. He has served as a director for the past 20 years on Cayman Islands licensed banks, hedge funds, venture capital, real estate and private equity funds. He has been a member of various private sector and Government committees promoting Cayman as the leading hedge fund domicile. He has served as a member of the Cayman Government’s Financial Service Counsel. He is a founding member and former president of the Cayman Islands Fund Administrators Association.
Prior to joining UBS in 1986, he was employed with Deloitte in Cayman and KPMG in Dublin. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered accountants of Ireland and holds a bachelor of commerce degree from University College Dublin.
Richard is a Director of Islandbridge Capital Cayman. He is an experienced lawyer both in England and in the Cayman Islands, being a Solicitor admitted in England, a Cayman Islands Attorney-at-law and Notary Public. He was for 6 years the Attorney General for the Cayman Islands, a Member of the Cabinet and Legislative Assembly and a Government Minister having been appointed to that position on the recommendation of the British Government.
Richard was also acting Governor of the Cayman Islands. Prior to that appointment he was the founding partner of a substantial firm of solicitors with offices in England. He has now reverted to private practice in Grand Cayman and is a non-executive director of a number of Mutual Funds, Structured Finance Vehicles and Investment and Financial Sector companies.
Richard studied at the College of Law in London and is a Fellow of the Caribbean Law Institute. He is a member of the Law Society of England, the Commonwealth Lawyers Association, the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, and the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies in London. He also has the distinction of being a Freeman of the City of London.
