Our team recently attended the Citywire Private Office retreat. Amongst various presentations from the sponsors, the delegates were treated to a thought provoking panel from our CIO, Joseph McCarthy on societal investment themes. The discussion revolved around what the prevalent societal megatrends are currently, how we can invest and extract these pockets of value, and closing with where family offices fit into the picture.
When put to the delegates, similar themes and ideas were echoed citing climate change, social responsibility and trade war concerns as those themes at the forefront of the global agenda.
Josephy McCarthy left the delegation with the following statement “Family offices can no longer try and avoid deep consideration on how their investments impact the environment and society. We are seeing an incredible opportunity set to back fast growing businesses and avoid those that continue to cause harm to the planet.”
