Empowering exceptional people to thrive.
Our clients, team and investments.
Our purpose:
Why we exist.
To empower exceptional people to thrive.
These people are our clients. Our own team. And the people we invest with. For our clients, we help relieve the weight of managing their assets. This allows them to focus on their wider purpose and what matters most to them.
For our people, we help them learn in an environment where they are challenged to be their best.
For our investments, we use our network to find great teams to invest with and we bring the strength of our network and support to bear.
Our values:
What we believe in.
Our values have evolved and will continue to change.
They are our compass, culture and framework for how and why we do what we do.

1. We may not have the answer for you
today, but it won’t
stop us from trying.
That’s what we promise our clients. And to them, it’s what makes us invaluable.
If our clients are experiencing difficulties, we’ll help find solutions. We’ll lift a problem from their shoulders and take it on. We do what’s needed to help.
We’re known for our long-term approach to solving our client’s problems, and we’re pragmatic about dealing with those problems. And our independence – we’re not tied to any particular products or institutions – means we’re working for our clients, not a bank.
We also work with the best talent globally to support as we deliver on client needs.
2. Going deeper
and finding out
more.
We don’t just accept. We question. We use our considerable resources and determination to examine opportunities in great detail. If it doesn’t stack up, we don’t get involved.
This rigour means we may miss some opportunities that turn out to be better than they looked. But that’s okay. In the long-term, it works.
For our clients, we’re obsessed with achieving the right result. To do this we push ourselves to know them better and understand their circumstances.
We’re curious about their needs and wants. We’re curious about how we can give it to them. We’re curious to know how we can improve.
We get better at helping our clients, and we get to understand ourselves more in the process.
3. Understanding complexity.
For many of our clients, working out an investment strategy is overwhelming. We’re here to help them not only take control, but also understand what they need and how we can make it happen.
It’s also evident in our investment activities.
4. Taking responsibility for the impact of
our work.
Our clients are exceptional people, and their actions can make a difference beyond their personal circumstances. We’re in the privileged position of being able to help them make that difference, and we know it can have an impact on other people and the planet.
The results of our advice and their consequent decisions are an important responsibility. The impact of our investments, and how we work, matters beyond our immediate environment.
We also want to give something back. We’re an employer and a successful business, and we’re capable of sharing some of our good fortune with the rest of the world, so we do.
5. Our, clients, people and those we invest in are all part of the same team.

Our work is not about just knowing the numbers. It’s about knowing the people. Our business is built on personal relationships: with clients, the companies and managers we invest with, and our own team.
Within our immediate team we don’t shirk accountability and ownership. No-one is too important to do the small things that need doing.
When we need expertise outside of our team, we call on the help of our network, established through long-term relationship building.
Dealing with these challenges doesn’t require an army. Instead, our network that we know and trust gives us the answers
6. Controlling input
gives us control over output.
Managing what goes in is the best way to control what comes out. We cannot control the external forces that govern our business, such as the markets, sentiment and whim.
But we can manage the way we approach our work, which gives us control over the output we achieve.
We’re a high-performance business but it’s sustainable performance. We do not want people to burn out in pursuit of better results. That does not serve our clients well.
Instead, we help our people grow and develop as they work, so they get better results by improving rather than overworking.
To this end, we’re always looking for new and innovative ways to do things, as well as using our existing knowledge to solve new problems. Learning, adapting and changing is how we stay in control of what we put in, and how we stay ahead.
7. Being human.
Our clients trust us and stay with us because our team know how to help, and not a faceless corporation or a set of algorithms. We deal with sensitive, personal matters and to do that successfully requires emotional intelligence, as well as investment knowledge.
We’ve worked hard to build relationships with our clients, and we work equally hard to maintain these relationships, which are for the long term. We get them results, but we’re also there when they need advice or to talk to someone.
It’s not all serious work. Enjoyment is an important part of being human, and not only do we enjoy what we do, we have fun while we’re doing it.
